Therapy that doesn't feel like therapy
Hello! I'm so glad that you've found us and are keen to know more. Here's a little about me, Silvina D'Alessandro (founder), and my services.
Purple Carrots Studio was founded in Toronto, Canada in 2015 and has been operating in Melbourne since 2021, when I moved back home after 14 years away. I offer individual speech therapy and child centred play therapy as a sole practitioner at Melbourne Kids Developmental Services (77 Holmes St. Brunswick), and run inclusive group drama programs during school holidays at Newlands Community Centre (North Coburg).

I love to learn and so far have completed:
-
Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology - La Trobe University, 2006
-
Bachelor of Dramatic Arts, Acting - National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), 2010
-
Advanced Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy - The CREATE Institute, Toronto, 2019
-
Child Centred Play Therapy Clinical Program - Play Therapy Australia, 2021
Purple Carrots is my first "baby": a professional child born of all my various forms of education and experience. I also have a fur-baby (dog) called Muesli and an actual human baby daughter who has taught me more about pretty much everything than any university degree ever could.
I am endlessly curious about what it is to be human. What helps us be happy, or at least better able to deal with difficult emotions? So far, I think the answer to this question comes down to relationships - both our relationship with ourselves and with others. I empower my clients by helping them recognise and develop their individual strengths and by valuing them for who they are, just as they are.

Purple Carrots is an inclusive space which encourages growth in communication and emotional well-being through three distinct services: individual speech therapy, child centred play therapy and group drama classes.
